PROJECT 365: DAYS 159 - 172

Day 159: The familiar dilemma of choosing a nail colour.
Day 160: This paisley skirt from Asos (via eBay) arrived in the post.
Day 161: Naughty (but extremely delicious) cupcake that my mum baked.
Day 162: Working on the wedding invites.

Day 163: The start of a week of dog sitting for George's parents.

Day 164: Walking the pooch along Clevedon seafront.

Day 165: Our initials on the invite covers :)

Day 166: More walkies on the most beautiful, sunny day.

Day 167: Strolling through the woods.

Day 168: Lots more pine cones in preparation for the wedding.
Day 169: Pooch in the window.
Day 170: Lovely moroccan backpack I found on eBay!
Day 171: George's pretty new guitar.

Day 172: Yep, still making those invites..

So I decided to change things up a bit and combined the last two weeks of photos into one big Project 365 post. This was mostly due to the fact I was very behind on posting the first week and decided to wait, but I'm kind of liking this new format. What do you think?

I hope you've had a fantastic couple of weeks!

PROJECT 365: DAYS 152 - 158

Day 152: Rain, rain, go away..

Day 153: My brother requested an owl for his birthday.

Day 154: Cake!

Day 155: Trying on wedding rings :)

Day 156: Chopping up our wedding invitations.

Day 157: Daisies and buttercups.

Day 158: We went on an afternoon stroll and George just had to have a funny five minutes in the park..

This was a pretty great week full of birthday cake, wedding preparations and a BBQ. The weather has also been glorious (yippee!), and I had my hair freshly coloured and trimmed at the weekend. Lovely jubbly :)

One: Script and block lettering.

Two: Wrapped in twine.

Three: Shit just got real..

Four: Beautifully illustrated.

Five: Lined envelopes.

Six: Rustic invitation bundle.

Seven: Kraft paper and string.

I'll be sharing our own invites once they are completed. Don't forget to follow me on Pinterest :)

WEDDING DIY: MAKING OUR "SAVE THE DATE" MAGNETS

Wedding planning is in full swing for me and George at the moment, so we've been getting crafty. We knew from the start that we wanted to design and make our own stationery and decorations, to give our wedding a very handmade, personal feel. It also means I'll be blogging about our journey and sharing some DIY tutorials for anyone else who might like to have a go. Our latest creations are these "Save the Date" magnets, so below I have written down everything you need to know in case you'd like to make something similar for yourself!

You will need:
- A printable design
- Sheets of card
- Guillotine
- Scissors
- Nail or metal file

We started with this pencil drawing that George came up with. We're having an autumn wedding with rustic/ woodland themed decor, so we thought this cute but simple tree would sum it up pretty well.

The drawing was then scanned into illustrator and live traced so we could play around with the design and fonts. We printed sheets and sheets of paper, experimenting with size, shape, placement and so on, until we settled on our final design.

As you can see we wanted the magnets to be quite minimal and not fussy or bright, so we chose a brown card with all black ink to fit our rustic look. Once printed, we sliced them up with the guillotine. You can use scissors at this stage if you don't have a guillotine, but I would definitely recommend buying one of these. I got this one when I was in university for about £15 on Amazon and I've got a tonne of use out of it. I promise you'll never attempt to cut a straight line with paper scissors again ;)

We then backed all of the cards with cork, which we cut with kitchen scissors. As you can see, one side of the cork is self adhesive so you simply cut your shape, peel off the yellow paper and stick it down. A word of warning: the sticky side is VERY sticky so take time to align your pieces.

Next we cut strips of magnetic tape, which is another quick peel-off-and-stick job, and smoothed all the edges of the cork with a small metal file. Job done!

So there you have it, our little handmade "Save the Date" magnets. We had a lot of fun designing and making these together and the materials were super cheap too. We spent roughly £20 - £25 on the card, cork and magnetic tape, which made us 32 magnets (less than £1 each!).

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into wedding planning and DIY. I'm sure there will be much more to come, with the wedding only being 6 months away. Do let me know if you enjoyed this sort of post, whether it has inspired you to make something similar yourself or you just like having a nosey. You can also check out my Pinterest board for more wedding related inspiration, to give you an idea of the aesthetic we're going for.

Things will be a little quiet around here for the next few days as we're heading down to Dartmoor for a long weekend and I haven't quite managed to finish or schedule any blog posts. I'm certain I'll return with lots of pretty photos of the countryside though and will be releasing some new Etsy products on Tuesday. Have a fantastic weekend!

PINSPIRATION #7

As some of you may remember, I got engaged at Christmas so I am currently planning my wedding! Being a bit of a crazy pinterest lady, I have been gathering lots of ideas for the big day and thought I would share some of my favourite things with you..

THE VENUE

1. One of the first things we decided was that we wanted a barn wedding. Neither of us are fond of traditional weddings set in churches or manor houses and would instead prefer something small and rustic that we can decorate to our own taste.

2. This barn is a better representation of the size of venue we would be looking for. We also LOVE this type of lighting. It creates a gorgeous, warm atmosphere. Lots of candles are also a must!

THE DECORATIONS

3. This tree slice cupcake stand is one of my favourite finds so far. In case you hadn't noticed, we like a lot of wood and want our wedding to have an autumnal/ woodland feel. We're also going to have an assortment of cupcakes rather than a wedding cake, so this would be perfect for displaying them. Rather than buying one, we're thinking it should be fairly easy to make one at home. Especially since my dad is a carpenter ;)

4. Candles, candles and more candles. We've been collecting jars since Christmas..

5. We don't want to overdo it with the flowers, so I love this simple arrangement. I think one of these with a table number attached to it would look lovely as a centrepiece, and it's another use for all the jars that are taking over my cupboards.

THE DRESS

6. I'm set on finding the perfect 1950s style dress. I really don't like full length, princess-like wedding dresses and would love something shorter and more doll-like with a vintage feel. Everyone asks me if I'm going to make my own dress, which is something I constantly think about, but I'm not sure I could handle the stress of making my own wedding dress! I'm keen to get designing though and can't wait to try some on in the shops, so we'll see where I go from there.

7. At the moment, this is one of my favourite necklines. It's such a beautiful, flattering shape. The lace detail is really pretty too.

8. Another reason for having a shorter dress.. so I can show off a beautiful pair of shoes!

THE INVITATIONS

9. We both enjoy graphic design and are really looking forward to making our own invitations. We love this idea of a pack which would include the invite, a map of the venue and any other bits of info.

10. I love how cute and handmade this invitation looks. The button is very 'me' and George loves the idea too!

I thought I would stop here, or this post could get very long..
I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my wedding ideas. There's so much to think about at the moment and it's all very exciting! I'm thinking of doing regular wedding related posts on here, whether it's more of these pinterest updates or just when anything significant happens.
