ETSY FAVOURITES: FATHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS

I'm posting this a lot later than I had originally anticipated, with Father's Day being just a few short days away, but decided to wrap it up and hit publish last minute anyway. So here's a very brief look into some of my Etsy favourites which might make the perfect gift for your Dad. If it's too late for you, I hope you'll come across something appropriate for another upcoming occasion, or at least discover a new Etsy shop to add to your own favourites!

Herringbone Bow Tie by Bartek Design

Bartek Design has a huge range of lovely bow ties. I'm sure I'll be getting one for my own Dad, not for Father's Day, but for my wedding day!

The Woodsman & Grumpy Pygmy Bear by Pygmy Cloud

I have followed this shop for a long time and absolutely love their creations. I think these two in particular would make cute Father's Day gifts.

Chimpanzee Art Print & Horned Owl Art Print by Berkley Illustration

Berkley Illustration is a recent discovery for me which I very quickly fell in love with. They have a massive amount of beautifully illustrated prints to browse through, so I'd recommend taking a look!

Father's Day Card by Mudsplash Studios

If you don't fancy splashing out too much, then a simple card will do the trick. This design in particular was my favourite. I really enjoy the style of art from Mudsplash Studios. They have a couple of other Father's Day designs to choose from too.

Sven the Corduroy Sloth by Midgins'

Of course, a gift ideas post isn't complete without an appearance from my own Etsy shop. For Father's Day, I thought a rather well dressed sloth would do the perfect job.

I hoped this little collection has peaked your interest. What's in your Etsy favourites at the moment?

PROJECT 365: DAYS 152 - 158

Day 152: Rain, rain, go away..

Day 153: My brother requested an owl for his birthday.

Day 154: Cake!

Day 155: Trying on wedding rings :)

Day 156: Chopping up our wedding invitations.

Day 157: Daisies and buttercups.

Day 158: We went on an afternoon stroll and George just had to have a funny five minutes in the park..

This was a pretty great week full of birthday cake, wedding preparations and a BBQ. The weather has also been glorious (yippee!), and I had my hair freshly coloured and trimmed at the weekend. Lovely jubbly :)

PROJECT 365: DAYS 138 - 144

Day 138: Chopping up an AC/DC t-shirt for my next creation.

Day 139: The finished upcycled guitar cushion.

Day 140: Fluffy clouds.

Day 141: Remembering how much I love peppermint tea.

Day 142: Admiring the tree outside my window.

Day 143: Me and George managed to assemble our new cross trainer without any arguments. Time to get in shape ;)

Day 144: We've had this lovely wooden dish for ages and could never decide what to put in it. We suddenly thought PINE CONES!

This was a fairly uneventful week, but the guitar cushion I made for my brother's birthday went down extremely well, which made me happy! I've spent the last few days working on wedding invitations with George (which are so close to being finished!), as well as attempting to sort out my first tax return. One of those things is much less enjoyable than the other ;)

UPCYCLING: AC/DC T-SHIRT GUITAR CUSHION

Today I'm sharing my most recent creation with you, an upcycled guitar cushion made from an AC/DC t-shirt. It's been a little while since I've upcycled something and I forgot just how much I love it. My brother had previously mentioned the possibility of me turning one of his t-shirts into a cushion, so I finally got round to crafting this one-of-a-kind guitar for his birthday last week.

It was a really satisfying piece to create and photograph, as I love how the main logo stretches across the whole of the body and the smaller logo fits perfectly on to the head stock. I am also really happy with the bright red corduroy I used for the back, as it compliments the red logo and adds an awesome pop of colour. I also chose to use brass buttons, rather than the folky wooden toggles I use on ukulele cushions, as I thought the metal would be better suited to a hard rock influenced guitar.

You may also remember some of my previous upcycled items, such as the college t-shirt monster, vintage shirt ukuleles and the star print jeans which I used for a handful of products.

Upcycling is definitely something I want to make more time for, as I really enjoy the process of turning an unwanted item into something new and totally unique. Feel free to get in touch if you have something of your own that you would like me to transform or if you have any other ideas for a custom product.

HOUSE PRINT EMBROIDERY HOOP

This adorable little house hoop has recently been listed over in my shop, Midgins'. You may remember the reversible house cushion which features the same print on one side. I've been desperate to get some more use out of, since it's my own design and I've got quite a big stash of it to use! While I'm working on other design ideas to incorporate it into, I thought I would whip up this quick and simple hoop, since it looks so sweet on it's own and would make a lovely little wall hanging for a home or nursery. Would love to know your thoughts and how else you think I should use this print.

PROJECT 365: DAYS 131 - 137

Day 131: Updated business cards.

Day 132: Refreshing some of our product photos on Etsy.

Day 133: Colour palette for a custom hoop I embroidered (and forgot to photograph when it was finished..)

Day 134: Cute house print hoop which will be available on Etsy shortly.

Day 135: My brother got super old today ;)

Day 136: A very windy bbq with friends and snuggles with this little beauty.

Day 137: A super sneaky peek at our first wedding invitation draft..

This week me and George decided we should take a little step back from Etsy to start focusing on our wedding plans, since it's just a few shorts months away! While we've taken some fresh product photos and updated little bits here and there, we're setting aside any new design developments for the time being and will be concentrating on our wedding invitations, decorations and honeymoon prep! I'll probably be posting about all of our preparations up until the big day, so I hope you don't mind a bit of wedding talk ;)

PROJECT 365: DAYS 124 - 130

Day 124: Cushions stuffed and waiting to be sewn up.

Day 125: Testing George's carpentry skills with these wooden platforms he put together for the craft fair.

Day 126: New summery colours.

Day 127: Organising the order book.

Day 128: Practising table layouts on the floor, and a preview of the finished logo embroidery.

Day 129: Taking more product photos while we've got the extra stock (and sunlight!)

Day 130: All set up at our very first craft fair.

Pretty much back on track with my project 365 post this week. This one was largely taken up by craft fair prep photos but hopefully you enjoyed having a peek at our little journey.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
